“Every team faces the threat of a natural predator. From political or industrial espionage, to the recruiting of top talent or the phishing for internal secrets, every tribe, flock, or family faces the real risk of attack. A keeper of sheep often employs a donkey who will bond with the sheep, acting as if they are family, warning of the imminent threat of predators and aggressively defending the team. Who is the “Jenny” on your team? Is it you?” J Loren Norris “We have heard stories all of our lives which inform the way we think and feel about ourselves and others. ‘Big girls don’t cry.’ ‘Real men don’t cry.’ ‘Look how you made me feel.’ All of these comments and sentiments likely harken back to a moment in your life. The incident, the relationship, the emotional drama which surrounded the very moment are as fresh as if it happened yesterday. Leaders must be aware not only of their own stories, but of the stories of anyone on their team which influence the attitude of daily behavior.” J Loren Norris “There are team mates who have an agenda other than the success of the team. These people often has strong skills, great talent, admirable results and an ego larger than life. These peoples also have one potential devastating reaction to their jealousy of playing a supporting role to your success: they would rather sink the ship than serve in any role other than ‘Captain’.” J Loren Norris “Focus, proper light on the subject, good perspective are issues of practice and action equally important to photographers and leaders. Too close to the subject means focusing clearly will be near impossible. The wrong angle, the wrong distance, the wrong light and the wrong focus on the subject will lead to failure for both leaders and photographers.” J Loren Norris “Every leader who influences others must understand the limit to their influence. Sometimes its based on character flaws of the leader. Sometimes its the limited knowledge of the leader. Sometimes its the existing influences of longer held and valued relationships. What causes those you lead to gather together? Is it just work? Is it family? Is it another common interest? Don’t speak out of turn just because you are the ‘leader’ of certain circles, it could end your right to influence.” J Loren Norris “The line has been blurred by nefarious means between fact and opinion. Many people who have studied the arts of conversation and persuasion have taken up the mantel of convincing those they influence to accept their opinions as facts. This is a dangerous form of control which has been employed for centuries of humans history and continues today. The difference today is the magnified effect through mass communication devices and technology. Note: we argue facts with evidence, we argue opinion with dissent.” J Loren Norris “Leaders should be prompt to admit their errors and wrong answers. Leaders should be committed to the truth. Leaders should be extremely reluctant to speak, do, demonstrate anything they know to be inaccurate or untrue simply for their own gain of power and influence. People who lie well are not people who lead well.” J Loren Norris “Nothing happening today in cultures, companies, and classrooms is a surprise if you know how to read the signs. “The philosophy of the classroom in this generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.” Abraham Lincoln The ideas which have been brooding in the kindergarten and colleges around the world have become the ideas of those who govern us. Leaders who cherish a nation which offers the greatest diversity, opportunity, equality and freedom in human history should speak up about true history.” J Loren Norris LEADERS LOOK BEYOND THE SURFACE WORDS AND ACTIONS TO OBSERVE THE INTENT OF THOSE THEY LEAD.6/11/2021 “Leaders discover early in their journey, you cannot always trust the words of those you serve or those you lead. There are even times when their very actions are designed to disguise the real intent, plan, or long term agenda. Leaders must learn to read the intent and deeper relationship aspects of those around them to decipher the infinite game and remain on the winning side.” J Loren Norris “Leaders know you can choose to pay today and play tomorrow or play today and pay tomorrow, but either way you’re gonna pay. Freedom is not free. Someone had to pay for it even if it wasn’t you. When you get something for free, you might be paying for it with your freedom. Bribes of free stuff are common tools of tyrants.” J Loren Norris “Nothing is harder for a leader than outgrowing their friends and family on their journey to success. Good leaders know that it is inevitable. As the saying goes, ‘The thinking that got you here will not get you there.’ It is true of friends in many cases. The circle that got you to your current level of success may not be wise affiliates at the next level. Be ready for tough conversations and necessary endings as you move on to success.” J Loren Norris “The greatest idea a leader can propose can be overwhelmed, defeated, dismissed by a narrative of the existing ‘status-quo’. Anytime the way things are has a better story than the change proposed, the reluctance to change remains. Any time the pain to change is more than the pain to stay the same - things will not change. If you want buy-in and participation in a new idea, start with a strong narrative of the benefits of what the better future will be.” J Loren Norris “Leaders who will not own their behavior or the results of their behavior will become a destructive force in any environment. The damage left in the wake of an immature and careless leader can be costly in terms of financial devastation as well as damaged relationships, career opportunities, brand reputation, and legacy.” J Loren Norris “To assume is never a good thing. Here’s one assumption leaders make in error regularly. To assume that a few data points, statistics or facts as you can prove them will create a mental u-turn for people following a false narrative is a disastrous assumption. How then do you overcome a negative narrative that is destroying your brand, your productivity, your company or your community? Watch the video to find out!” J Loren Norris “The meaning of hard work goes way beyond the definition. The definition even varies based on the vocation or education of the worker. It is my experience having done both manual labor jobs and intellectually taxing jobs, the really hard work is the thinking work. Leaders must do that work, often behind the scenes. Watch the video to understand why and what that work consists of for a good leader.” J Loren Norris “The most abused word, meaning, application in the last decade also happens to be the most powerful and effective tool for leadership influence. As a leadership coach focused on communication and public speaking training i can tell you this one element will make or break any leader - personally and professionally. Watch the video to know what it is and why it’s so important.” J Loren Norris “Leaders who seek only authority and power and yet ignore responsibility could be called corrupt leaders. Leaders who use power and authority to benefit themselves and those they favor, and also treat others with disregard, also corrupt leaders. Supervisor, boss, company owner, shift manager, elected official, if you are a leader with one of these titles and you choose to execute your authority to the detriment of others, you need to take time to ask yourself, ‘Am I corrupt?’” J Loren Norris “Especially when it comes to legacy, there is a fine line but broad distinction between intention and awareness. It is possible to be an intentionally good person who is compassionate, considerate and consistent yet be unaware of the impact this life will have on those you leave behind. It is also possible to be intentional about leaving a legacy through investments, inheritances and a larger than life reputation while being unaware of the people who are hurt along the way. Are you both aware and intentional?” J Loren Norris “Guilt by association takes on a whole new meaning when you find yourself caught up in an activity you would have NEVER participated in if you knew in advance. In fact, if you knew what ‘they’ were up to, you would have actively resisted their efforts. As you consider this episode of Leading Leaders Podcast ask yourself: ‘Have I ever been sucked into something I would have never done?’” J Loren Norris “This way of leading, fighting the system and generally being a responsible person in any society or culture is likely something you are already doing. If you lead, if you influence, if you bring to light the daily expectations of moral goodness, then you are already practicing #9. If you are not practicing this particular aspect of fighting the system, you are now or soon will be a failed leader.” J Loren Norris “Of all the ways leaders must be willing and prepared to fight the strategy mentioned in this lesson could be the one double edged sword of leadership. If you do not learn this one and apply it diligently, you will fight more battles than necessary and lose kore than you should.” J Loren Norris #5 LEADERS WAY TO FIGHT THE SYSTEM. I BELIEVE YOU WONT BELIEVE HOW EFFECTIVE THIS STRATEGY CAN BE4/22/2021 “The motivation which comes from a competition can lead to great things. The instigation which comes from jealousy, greed and contention can lead to senseless wars. Marketers know you must inspire a want in people in order to sell your products that’s what good advertising is for. But the idea of creating strife in one community versus another based on who possesses more, accomplishes more, achieves more is an insidious manipulation of human nature.” J Loren Norris “The most complicated thing to manage is the most simple way to make profound change. Leaders who are frustrated with the system, with the processes and procedures must remember the power they have instant access to. It’s not a power to force others to change. It’s not a power to rewrite the system. It is the power to change the attitude you approach every situation with. This power will more often than not directly impact the outcome of the situation.” J Loren Norris “An old saying tells us Americans will always get the leaders they deserve. The next ‘way we should fight’ is all about the right, the power, the obligation every US citizen has to participate in their own governance. Laziness, apathy and ignorance will only empower those who are greedy and control hungry. It’s time for al leaders to FIGHT LIKE THIS!” J Loren Norris “Its easier to wait for a leader to arrive who will take the risks and share the rewards before you charge into a new venture, idea or battle. It’s easier to keep your ideas to yourself if you fear they will bring ridicule. But when you put both of those truths together, you may find the inspiration inside you is the leader you are looking for. The leader you are waiting for is in the mirror.” J Loren Norris |

Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download with worksheets Day after day I meet people who are struggling just to make ends meet. They are adrift in this vast sea of humanity holding on to their job, their family, their home, and their car with all they've got. They see their life experiences and education as the last hope to find their purpose and identity. They gather, fill and stuff all the money they can into every opportune investment. Yet they are empty, frustrated, angry and just plain fed up. We have all experienced that moment; when we find yourself stuck in traffic, yelling at random strangers to do what they wish they could... but can't... GO! The idea that life can be better than it is today is like the flame of a candle fighting for all its worth to stand against the tempest. We all want a better life. Even when life is good, we want more. That idea, that flame, is the hope that lives in the hearts and minds of all of us. Should that flame be extinguished, hope itself may well go with it. It is the rut of hopelessness that traps many would be shining stars and buries that glow from the sight of the world. It is the rut of hopelessness that extinguishes that flame. Lives that would have been a beacon to the wandering are lost at sea themselves. Inspirations of success that would have been the voices crying out to all who suffer are hidden away in their own stale lives, they cannot share who they are or what the world needs from them. It is my passion to help you find your purpose. I want to see you become successful, but more than that to be free! Without vision people perish. Without vision, we seem to be lost, mind numb robots following the herd into the abyss that is everyday life. We do not live intentionally without a vision for our future. We do not live passionately without a vision for our future. We do not live productively without a vision for our future. We certainly cannot lead without a vision for our future and a vision for the future of those we lead. This audio course will inspire and instruct you to create a vision which will become a significant driving force in your life. Author
