“Leaders do not get the respect they demand, they get the respect they earn!” J Loren Norris

"Bigotry is in all of its forms a graceless way to lead. Intimidation based on differences is not leadership it is manipulation and tyranny." J Loren Norris "If you are seeking significant fun a vial success, financial gain and market power or market share, be certain you have sure odds yourself with people you respect, who share your same values and who have experiences in this level of growth." J Loren Norris "The seed, the acorn, the pine cone, the pumpkin seed all of them are the same thing - a blueprint. They are not the entire substance of the tree. All on their own, they cannot produce a tree. They need something else. A seed needs nutrient rich, moisture filled, deep and solid soil." J Loren Norris "For whatever reason they question their leaders, the number one tool is THE LEADER’S PAST." J Loren Norris "I believe leaders need to teach entrepreneurs to be go getters, customer centric and truly independent again. Not just how to complete a resume and W-4 form along with their I-9." ~J Loren Norris "Leaders especially must be SELF AWARE enough to know if they have slipped into these 3 TOXIC habits and correct them immediately." J Loren Norris "It’s one thing to guard your brand by protecting the quality standards of the product or service you offer the public (your commodity) its another level of leadership to guard the integrity of the system and the process." J Loren Norris "I suggest you get a serious grip on the conversations going on around your dinner table, with your friends over coffee or at work. Those conversations do two very important things." "Sometimes, the best leadership of a deceptive and manipulative person is to lead them to another team." "The challenge for both sides is the idea of "getting what they deserve." Both parties come expecting a little more from the other. How often have you felt like you've done more than you were paid for? How often have you paid for a service or product and felt like you paid way too much for it or got less than you paid for?" Leaders are expected to be wise, mentors, teachers and guides. Leaders can often think more highly of their own smarts than they should. Humility becomes very important at this point. "Leaders who don't take the time to unplug from the world and plug into their own resources will burn out!" The same is true with almost all other goods and services sold. Leaders must also recognize and revive the dreams of those they lead. “Motivation is like bathing,” says Zig Ziglar, “that’s why we recommend it daily.” You might hear these words. “I really gotta go...” or “Walk with me.” Can you tell the difference? Read along the lines of your interest, read along the lines of your career, your goals, your ambitions and even your hobbies BUT READ!" J Loren Norris …The following two excerpts are copied without alteration from LinkedIn “daily run down”. "Pinterest users searching for terms related to vaccines will be directed to results from public health bodies. The social media platform says that to “tackle health misinformation,” searches for terms like “measles” and “vaccine safety” will now lead users to the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and the Vaccine Safety Net. The WHO announced recently that four nations have lost their measles eradication status: Albania, the Czech Republic, Greece and the U.K. are no longer considered measles-free." "Think twice about putting that round of cocktails on Instagram— your bank could be watching. That's according to researchers at the University of Melbourne, who say we can increasingly expect our social media usage — and what it says about our spending habits — to be factored into decisions made by financial institutions. The researchers argue this monitoring is just "one example of the increased privacy invasion taking place in the finance industry." If you ever wondered who has the most control in the outcome of elections, buying decisions, education, misinformation, public manipulation trust me when I say, “the Russians” have hardly scratched the surface. In the military the phrase is “NEED TO KNOW BASIS” and apparently the American people don’t need to know the truth. Leaders. Do your homework. Do not simply trust the “information” which was easiest to find. It might have been “fed to you” for the goal of misleading you or directing a certain outcome. Soon the same “directed search results” will include your reputation (associations and hangouts?), employment history (social media check ins?), medical history (23 and me?), driving history (insurance discounts?) The data is being gathered. It can and will he used against you in a court of law (or public trial by social media (doxing?). You have the right to remain silent and you should consider it. From passive aggressive statements and veiled accusations to flat out deceptive emotional manipulations. It happens in families where children are grown. It happens between teens. It happens in the office. It happens with weak and insecure leaders. When we feel like the last tool we have to “get our own way” or to control/ predict our outcomes rests is using a GUILT TRIP, we really need to check ourselves. I am guessing most of us recognize such behavior in others long before we recognize it in ourselves. The power of a good leadership assessment tool like the 360 review will uncover some of the blind spots we can’t see, or won’t see. If you have ever heard whispers, rumors or direct accusations of yourself using manipulative behavior, it’s time to get real. Not only is such behavior destructive to your team, it will scar your professional reputation and the level of your influence for years to come. Leaders need to be focused on the needs of others and one way to do that is to focus on being better leaders and not using emotionally abusive pry bars to get results. Rejection is how you feel when the thoughts of others influence your thoughts of yourself.
It is the FEAR OF REJECTION which becomes an attitude in the way of our destiny. It influences our decision making, relationship building, risk taking and day to day confidence or resolve. "Your destiny could be stolen from you by the fear of rejection whether the actual rejection is real or imagined." J Loren Norris The same is true of those you love and those you lead. They crave and need your acceptance. They need to know that even if they fail miserably you still support their effort and encourage the best intent in them. Your words of positivity and your loaned belief could be the very asset they need to push past the fear and find their greatest dreams realized. Don’t let rejection derail your dreams, your destiny or the destiny of those you lead. Photo by Cristian Newman on Unsplash Click Here For Audio OnlyWhat is your most valuable asset? Education? Experience? Bank Account? Friends? Leaders need to be willing to look deep inside if they are “treasure hunting” to discover the value of themselves. It’s not your education but how you apply it. It’s not your experience but how well you can convey the lessons learned for someone else to employ. It’s not the bank balance but the ways in which you give and invest in others with the resources. It’s not your friends nor their celebrity but the value you bring to them which makes connections an asset. Beliefs drive more action than anything else. What you believe to be your assets will get time and attention. What you don’t believe to be your assets will get little attention and little action. Deep introspection is required for leaders to discern what we truly believe to better align our actions and assets. Without a deep dive, we risk not delivering to the world all we have to offer to meet the immediate needs and demands. What makes you angry? Or what is anger? Leaders need to know both answers. The nature and climate of our current culture is a fascinating part of human evolution. The rate at which society is changing and the factors which are causing it might blow your mind. Anger. Frustration. Finger pointing. Outbursts of rage. Violence (in the streets and in the work place). Distrust. Jealousy. All of these are expressions of emotions out of control. And dare I say they are intentionally provoked by some for financial gain and others for political gain. This is a problem. Fellow JMT leadership coach and crisis intervention specialists Veronica Sites knows better than I do the impact unresolved conflict has on the work environment. But I can tell you this: much of the problem we face in culture wars today stems from a lack of personal accountability, an inability to control our emotions, unfettered license to misbehave without consequences and the common thread of such behavior all around us. As leaders, we need to get a grip. First on our own emotions, second on an understanding of what is provoking those we lead and how to counter it. My friend and licensed Counselor Brady Daniel will tell you Anger = fear + pain. If you can discover what causes your team fear and pain you can abate the anger before it causes damage. Leading with compassion is required now even more than ever before. What are the strengths and talents of the people you lead? If you don’t know, how can you hope to lead them well? It might seem when you encounter a great leader that you have met a mind reader. Chances are you have met someone who is intuitive toward and compassionate about the people they lead. They have “done their homework” about the people around them. They understand the motivations, curiosities, concerns and meaning which drives them. If you lead others, take time to utilize tools which analyze and provide a snap shot look at the hearts and mind of the people you lead. #CliftonStrengths is a great tool for understanding your people. It is one of my favorites. #DISC is also a great insight into the way people think and respond to various engagements. If you are not sure where you are as a leader, John Maxwell Team has created a powerful assessment tool to get a barometer of your own strengths and weaknesses. The Leadership Game is another tool which make learning fun. If you are interested, ask me, I can connect you to people who are Certified to employ each of these tools. I recommend you employ these tools as soon as possible. Know your people. Know yourself. Know your paths to successful leadership. #LeadingLeadersPodcast Photo by Priscilla Du Preez on Unsplash LEADING LEADERS PODCAST with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons promoting faith, family and freedom for Tell It Like It Is TV . Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download with worksheets Day after day I meet people who are struggling just to make ends meet. They are adrift in this vast sea of humanity holding on to their job, their family, their home, and their car with all they've got. They see their life experiences and education as the last hope to find their purpose and identity. They gather, fill and stuff all the money they can into every opportune investment. Yet they are empty, frustrated, angry and just plain fed up. We have all experienced that moment; when we find yourself stuck in traffic, yelling at random strangers to do what they wish they could... but can't... GO! The idea that life can be better than it is today is like the flame of a candle fighting for all its worth to stand against the tempest. We all want a better life. Even when life is good, we want more. That idea, that flame, is the hope that lives in the hearts and minds of all of us. Should that flame be extinguished, hope itself may well go with it. It is the rut of hopelessness that traps many would be shining stars and buries that glow from the sight of the world. It is the rut of hopelessness that extinguishes that flame. Lives that would have been a beacon to the wandering are lost at sea themselves. Inspirations of success that would have been the voices crying out to all who suffer are hidden away in their own stale lives, they cannot share who they are or what the world needs from them. It is my passion to help you find your purpose. I want to see you become successful, but more than that to be free! Without vision people perish. Without vision, we seem to be lost, mind numb robots following the herd into the abyss that is everyday life. We do not live intentionally without a vision for our future. We do not live passionately without a vision for our future. We do not live productively without a vision for our future. We certainly cannot lead without a vision for our future and a vision for the future of those we lead. This audio course will inspire and instruct you to create a vision which will become a significant driving force in your life. Author
