WHAT WILL REMAIN WHEN THE WINDS OF CHANGE HAVE STOPPED HOWLING?

Yet the waves to come are often worse than the imagination can conceive. So it is with the social tsunamis which bring lasting transformation, the exposure is followed by a thrashing, is followed by cleansing and rebuilding.” J Loren Norris

TRUTH SUPERSEDES AND OUTLASTS
One issue with social transformation is the manipulation of history by the victor. History belongs to the triumphant. Unfortunately, the history as told by the victor is a stolen history, misused history, a propagandist history. The history which must be told, is the hardest one to discover, to uncover and to reveal. I know, truth is hard to find after generations of intentional deceit.

I know this human deception is as old as human history itself. Entire mythologies, whole religions, nations, empires and societies have been built on the skeletons of well crafted agendas and often repeated narratives. I also believe, there is a truth to be embraced which is as reliable and constant as gravity is on this planet. I believe it is the bedrock from which the silt is removed. It is the cavernous depths we must be willing to delve into if we shall hold something firmly enough to endure the storm.

BELIEVE WHAT YOU WISH
Some belief systems are based on confirmation bias. The truth is what I want it to be because it is comfortable and proves what I thought was true all along. Some belief systems are built on the ideology handed down from past generations and is subject to the experiential history of those telling the story. Some belief systems are built on emotional well being, a sense of happiness and self discovery. Some belief systems are crafted and propagated for the sole purpose of hierarchal control.

ALL BELIEF SYSTEMS have their systems of reward and punishment, their explanations of the origin and purpose of human kind, their recommendations for how to interact and engage with others and what it means to love, to obey and to follow or submit to the tenants of the system of belief itself.

ALL BELIEF SYSTEMS also have one other thing in common. They all have consequences prescribed for those who choose not to adhere to the system, the beliefs, the behaviors as they are laid out.

YOU are responsible for what you believe. YOU are responsible for who you follow and attitudes, actions and behaviors which drive you because of that belief. Whatever consequences may come, you own them. Believe as you wish.

My challenge for you is simple. Ask yourself this: “When the winds of change and the tsunami of social transformation subside, will MY belief system remain intact??”
