“Most people read a book, watch a movie or attend a competition with one “side” or another in mind. They root for the hero, the protagonist or the home team. Who is the hero? The good guy? The villain? Where you’re from might change who the home team is for you. Now where is your loyalty?” J Loren Norris WHO DO YOU RESONATE OR IDENTIFY WITH? WHO DO YOU RELATE TO? OR SEE YOURSELF AS?
DO YOU RESONATE/ IDENTIFY WITH THE HERO OR THE ANTAGONIST? For many people the question would seem simple. I always want to be on the “winning side.” Who doesn’t? But if you study history at all, in the midst of a revolution, the sides may be clearly identified, but who is winning and who is losing are not so easy to determine. In fact, as you look at history from where we are now, many wars which were seen as righteous wars when they were fought, turned out to be skirmishes of ego and power with no good ending for either side. How then do you decide which is the proper side to resonate with as the battle rages? ARE YOU TEAM “WE NEED RADICAL TRANSFORMATION?” There are hundreds of thousands of people who have a view of the current state of the world that sees everything as corrupt, driven by greed and a power lust which destroys everything in it’s path. This view expresses itself in may ways, but one of those is a view of government and financial systems which supports dismantling all systems as they are now and converting them to a totally different system. This view generally has a specific system of governance in mind and a particular way of achieving their goals. The irony is, at the utopian pinnacle of the final manifestation of this system, those who have done the heavy lifting of the radical transformation usually find themselves the victims of an even more corrupt system with an even greater power lust and little to no regard for the rights of the masses who made it possible. ARE YOU TEAM “LEAVE THINGS ALONE WE HONOR OUR HISTORY?” The old phrase “if we don’t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it” is most certainly a double edged sword. On the one side if we see the magnitude of corruption and the awful inhumane treatment of others people and we do nothing to remedy or rectify the situation, then we have learned nothing. We are merely casual observers. It is through things such as memorials, ceremonies and celebrations that casual observes become aware of past atrocities and are reminded that good people cannot sit idly by and expect judgement to never reach them. Casual observes always get drawn into the fight eventually on one side or the other. On the other hand, destroying and demolishing the memories of history, may placate the stress and anxiety of those who must painfully relive it in every recall, but there is no promise it will prevent the same atrocities from beginning again. There is a sadly destructive cycle of human societies which looks very familiar throughout all human history. Power corrupts they say, absolute power corrupts absolutely. There must be a responsible balance to record and recall history accurately so that the outcomes and the residual effect can be measured then deemed beneficial or harmful; repeatable or reprehensible. ARE YOU TEAM “WE NEED TO MAKE CHANGES NOT DESTROY WHAT WE HAVE?” If you were to ask me where I fall, this would most likely be my team. I have traveled to many different places around the globe and experienced first hand many different types of cultures, societies, ideologies, political systems, religious systems and people. I can see failures, flaws and fallacies in most of them. I also have always had a fierce loyalty to America which is likely why I served in the US Air Force as a young man. I see corruption in many levels of government systems, religious systems and family relationships in America. I see people mistreated, lied to and lied about, taken advantage of. I know of victims left with both the weight of the consequence of someone else’s horrible decisions and at the lack of recourse for justice. I have observed and participated in the fight to bring democracy to societies which have been war torn and neglected for decades or even centuries. I believe America as we experience it today, has some serious short comings and wrongs which need to remedied. I believe not all people have been treated appropriately according to their unalienable rights. I believe somethings cannot be undone which never should have been done. I believe as Americans we can do, MUST DO BETTER to see that every one is treated with the compassion, care and dignity afforded them as HUMAN BEINGS! I also believe and have observed, this nation, even with all of her obvious and glaring flaws, has been the destination of hope and the beacon of freedom around the world from her very birth. Yes, we need to transform thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors at every level to insure liberty and justice for all. We need to remain the destination of hope for those who have been outcasts of their own home lands. We also must realize and act in accordance with the truth, no system or society on earth has ever offered greater individual opportunity for success, greater individual freedoms, greater regard for human life than the United Stated of America. Let’s continue the fight to make her better and better. What “team” do you resonate with? Who is your hero or protagonist? ___________________________________ Help us take this message to young leaders around the world. Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download with worksheets Day after day I meet people who are struggling just to make ends meet. They are adrift in this vast sea of humanity holding on to their job, their family, their home, and their car with all they've got. They see their life experiences and education as the last hope to find their purpose and identity. They gather, fill and stuff all the money they can into every opportune investment. Yet they are empty, frustrated, angry and just plain fed up. We have all experienced that moment; when we find yourself stuck in traffic, yelling at random strangers to do what they wish they could... but can't... GO! The idea that life can be better than it is today is like the flame of a candle fighting for all its worth to stand against the tempest. We all want a better life. Even when life is good, we want more. That idea, that flame, is the hope that lives in the hearts and minds of all of us. Should that flame be extinguished, hope itself may well go with it. It is the rut of hopelessness that traps many would be shining stars and buries that glow from the sight of the world. It is the rut of hopelessness that extinguishes that flame. Lives that would have been a beacon to the wandering are lost at sea themselves. Inspirations of success that would have been the voices crying out to all who suffer are hidden away in their own stale lives, they cannot share who they are or what the world needs from them. It is my passion to help you find your purpose. I want to see you become successful, but more than that to be free! Without vision people perish. Without vision, we seem to be lost, mind numb robots following the herd into the abyss that is everyday life. We do not live intentionally without a vision for our future. We do not live passionately without a vision for our future. We do not live productively without a vision for our future. We certainly cannot lead without a vision for our future and a vision for the future of those we lead. This audio course will inspire and instruct you to create a vision which will become a significant driving force in your life. Author
