RELEVANT - my word for 2019. What’s yours? - Published on: Dec 31, 2018 @ 14:02
Of all the things one should be as a leader - RELEVANT still stands. As we wrap up 2018 and move toward the new year, many question run through our minds about accomplishment and failure in the last year. I challenge you to insert your own reflections - What 5 questions are you asking to better position yourself in the coming year. Here are two statements from the past 24 hours which resonance deeply with everything I teach and which I believe when applied can help shape your goals, aspirations and activities for 2019. “Value only exists where a felt need becomes a met need.” Nick Beecher. “The best talks begin with big ideas, distilled into few words.” Tricia Brouk In other words, relevant. Let me ask again the three questions I believe should shape your life and mine. Ask them daily as a barometer or course correction to stay on track for a great 2019.

Steward your influence, no pearl before swine.

Here’s the truth. We are all responsible for how we handle what we have been given to work with. We are also responsible for how were use, what we have been given to work with. There were historically 5,000 men and their families who gathered around a teach for a day or two to learn from him. The next day they showed up again. When he asked something difficult of them, all but 12 turned and walked away. Sure, he offered something to all of them. He invested in all 5,000 plus. But when it came to giving the very best of himself and his insights. He personal and intimate knowledge, even the twelve were whittled to three. Where you “throw the seed of influence” is a stewardship issue. Who you choose to give your best knowledge and hard earned wisdom matters. Love everyone. Lead those you’re given. Know the difference. https://youtu.be/dvHKmsjrZlc Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. Published on: Dec 17, 2018 @ 14:33 Recently I met a gentleman who is doing just that. Creating opportunities for veterans to earn income, for single mothers to earn income, for sons of single mothers to find mentors and to fund the programs through needed services in the community as well as some grants and gifts that have not been tapped in this way before. This week I will be on the road with Opportunity Centers Of America and Bruce Carter to create leadership programs, personal development programs and financial opportunities for veterans and low income families. Published on: Dec 11, 2018 @ 14:33 Your mind is the environment your future is incubated in. You’ve heard me talk about VISION and imagination as they influence your future. We have discussed how to craft your vision, how to articulate your vision and what emotional, visual and goal oriented elements your vision must have to face tough obstacles and setbacks in your life. Today, I want you to really focus on the THOUGHTS which have the power to bring success into your life. If you have crafted your vision and feel excited about the prospects of seeing it come to fruition, you are off to a great start. But if you only “feel” excited when you read through your vision statement and then you go back to the same feelings you had before, you are living in the past. Your MIND MUST CHANGE if you want to feel the future you envision. Your mind is the environment your future is incubated in. Make your mind a clear and safe place to grow new thoughts. Take time regularly to concentrate focused energy on HOW WINNING WILL FEEL when you reach your goals successfully. Choose one highly charged, positively emotional thought for your future happy life. Spend at least 10 minutes today THINKING AND FEELING that thought until it seems so real you have to punch yourself. Leaders must manage their own mind and influence the thoughts of those around them. https://youtu.be/ur2keAC1sGE Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. "I don't like to be beholden to anybody" be·hold·en /bəˈhōld(ə)n/Submit adjective
Who are you beholden to? Who do you OWE for favor(s) you have received? If you believe the answer is no one, you have simply deceived yourself. Listen to the story in the video and see if you can better relate to the obligations we sometimes find ourself unintentionally committing to. Leaders are always beholden to someone. The power of great leadership rests in choosing who that will be. https://youtu.be/n2TU5RWmuFk Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. Published on: Dec 7, 2018 @ 14:17 Three words every leader should practice but most can’t hardly say. “I was wrong” or “I stand corrected.” Great leaders know the difference between an excuse, a justification, a reason and a revelation. EXCUSE When something doesn’t happen as it should and we blame someone else for the failure. Subordinates do this often. REASON An explanation of “facts” which prevented something from being accomplished. Some of those facts are real and some are imagined. “I couldn’t get any help because no one understands me.” JUSTIFICATION Some people have all the reasoning in the world why they don’t want to complete a task or project and they will always find something to prevent doing it then explain why the other task was “more pressing or important at the time.” Often looks like the tyranny of the urgent. REVELATION When a subordinate can truly explain why the project was not completed or an action not taken based on information NEW TO YOU as the leader - now its time to OWN UP and admit you were wrong. Leaders who demand and insist on certain outcomes or results without considering all the facts are tyrants. Leaders who can never admit a wrong are not leaders long. https://youtu.be/G2tN18tcqSI Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. “If you know what’s good for you...”
Leaders are required to make the tough decisions. To do what we know is best for everyone involved. The average person reserves the right to remain average, to resist change, to ignore warning signs, to duck the obvious. Leaders do not have that same luxury. Like my grandson fighting going to sleep because he is already over tired from missing his nap, average people often struggle, resist and enter reluctantly the season of change. Rest becomes impossible to find. Peace is buried in anxiety. Depression lurks at the door for those who fight what they know is good for them. Lean in when struggles come. On the other side you will be stronger. Trust your team, your training and your past successes. Even what seems totally new and out of the blue is something to have successfully conquered before. Surrender to the flow and breath deep. Leaders do not ignore “what’s good for them” they seek the challenge and grow through it. https://youtu.be/fEXqWHnOlC0 Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. Like children longing to “grow up” too soon, many people seem to be anxious to hasten the end. But are they ready?
If you were driving toward a hole in the road which didn’t exist an hour ago, wouldn’t you expect a warning of some sort? A road sign or barricade at least? As you hasten to the end of a relationship, career, youth, or even your life are you looking for the warning signs? Leaders are not only expected to be prepared but also to prepare and equip their teams. So here is my heads up for you. Jesus is coming. Not as a baby in a manger but as a conquering King and every human will either gather with Him or scatter abroad. Are you prepared? “Change doesn’t happen until the pain of staying the same is greater than the effort required to change.” JOHN MAXWELL Change is up to you. You will submit to change and follow it or you will stand in the way. IF you choose to stand in the way of change be prepared to fight. There are times when resisting change are required - like when principles are being violated, when rights are being violated, when freedom is at risk. There are also times when being the only one resisting change could cost you everything, even your life. Consider Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leaders plan change, orchestrate change, manage change. Leaders also know when to stand on principles and resist change. A new year is coming. Change is coming. This season of giving should bring out something new in each of us. Leaders are influencers. Part of our role is to demonstrate and model the right way of both giving and receiving. If you give and feel slighted because you did not get the “THANK YOU!” you believe you DESERVED, you are giving for the wrong reason. You should not “give” for the purpose of getting “thank you’s” but because your gift could change the life of someone else. We should also receive with great grace. Gratitude and appreciation should be a joyful return for any gift of any size from anyone. To be grateful for only the best gifts and only from the most important people is immature and completely misses the point. It also slights anyone who gives from a pure motive and humble resources. In short. GIVE not for recognition but for kindness. Receive with extravagant gratitude any gift. Model graciousness on both sides. That’s what great leaders do. https://youtu.be/0jNPwuBRFBE Tell It Like It Is TV with J Loren Norris providing daily leadership video lessons for faith, family and freedom. Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download

Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download with worksheets Day after day I meet people who are struggling just to make ends meet. They are adrift in this vast sea of humanity holding on to their job, their family, their home, and their car with all they've got. They see their life experiences and education as the last hope to find their purpose and identity. They gather, fill and stuff all the money they can into every opportune investment. Yet they are empty, frustrated, angry and just plain fed up. We have all experienced that moment; when we find yourself stuck in traffic, yelling at random strangers to do what they wish they could... but can't... GO! The idea that life can be better than it is today is like the flame of a candle fighting for all its worth to stand against the tempest. We all want a better life. Even when life is good, we want more. That idea, that flame, is the hope that lives in the hearts and minds of all of us. Should that flame be extinguished, hope itself may well go with it. It is the rut of hopelessness that traps many would be shining stars and buries that glow from the sight of the world. It is the rut of hopelessness that extinguishes that flame. Lives that would have been a beacon to the wandering are lost at sea themselves. Inspirations of success that would have been the voices crying out to all who suffer are hidden away in their own stale lives, they cannot share who they are or what the world needs from them. It is my passion to help you find your purpose. I want to see you become successful, but more than that to be free! Without vision people perish. Without vision, we seem to be lost, mind numb robots following the herd into the abyss that is everyday life. We do not live intentionally without a vision for our future. We do not live passionately without a vision for our future. We do not live productively without a vision for our future. We certainly cannot lead without a vision for our future and a vision for the future of those we lead. This audio course will inspire and instruct you to create a vision which will become a significant driving force in your life. Author
