Leaders who don't take the time to unplug from the world and plug into their own resources will burn out!
Overwhelm, depressions, anxiety, stress related medical issues are all imminent when leaders try to burn the candle at both ends. At best you will be running on empty, not giving 100% because you are so depleted to begin with. At worst, your work, your relationships, your health will suffer and the end result could be an end to your career, your marriage or your life.
This is serious business! It is easy to see and ignore the signs. Like a digital device with a low battery or outdated software, glitches become common place. Exhaustion leads to frustration. Depression leads to isolation. Slow responses lead to no responses. Perhaps you have experienced that frustration with your device? You get so angry to begin to press the buttons harder, then poke then with strong intent, eventually you're basically STABBING THE SCREEN, as if the device will catch on to your anger and act differently. NOPE! Not gonna happen.
Your leadership will suffer similar behavior. Your team will experience the frustration and anger when you're not operating optimally. Your productivity and progress will slow and the quality of your output will suffer dramatically.
Take a TIME OUT NOW. Get a day away. Go fishing, golfing, glamping, bird watching, surfing, cruising, whatever you need to do. Unwind, refocus, reconnect with your vision, your purpose and your goals. You cannot do this life alone, but a burned out leader will have limited resources and burned out relationships. Protect them now.
