“‘It’s only wrong if you get caught.’ Right? NO. I am a firm, believer that good and right are knowable. I believe there are absolute laws of the universe which are not for the purpose of judgment or financial gain and that violating those laws comes with greater penalty than prosecution, jail time and fines.” J Loren Norris LEGAL. RIGHT. OR GOOD. DOES IT MATTER?
“‘It’s only wrong if you get caught.’ Right? NO. I am a firm, believer that good and right are knowable. I believe there are absolute laws of the universe which are not for the purpose of judgment or financial gain and that violating those laws comes with greater penalty than prosecution, jail time and fines.” J Loren Norris LEGAL Just because law makers have not made a decision or ruling to outlaw something does not mean its a good idea. I am old enough to remember the legal debates about “physician assisted suicide.” I was a teenager then. My mind struggled so hard with that. Suicide is not punishable by law because if you succeed... well its hard to jail or punish a dead person. But if someone else ends a life, that is called murder or some variation of homicide. How then can there be a law to protect the doctor who “helps someone else to die”? Laws regarding same sex marriage, abortion, marijuana, age of consent, driving while texting are extremely contentious and likely always will be. Whether you and I agree with the law or not, we must obey it or face stiff penalties. What happens when the law as it is written is in itself morally wrong - like slavery laws? RIGHT If there is no trust worthy “right and wrong” then why have laws or law enforcement at all? If there is not a definable line of demarcation then all laws are simply in existence to manipulate human behavior to the advantage of those who write/ propose the laws. To the best of my understanding, the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, the Amendments to the Constitution in the USA, were all written with a similar mindset. Right and wrong are both knowable and absolute. The basics of laudable human interaction are outlined in all of the oldest religions, and most of them agree. These tenets are consistent, noteworthy and doable across all major religions at their founding core. I encourage you to do some research on the founding religion of your choice and ask yourself, do these seem RIGHT to me and would these tenets be legal, permissible and beneficial? GOOD Finally, I want to mention what I believe to be the most basic litmus test of all for human behaviors and interaction. Will this thing I am about to do or say hurt someone, offend someone, injure someone? If so, then perhaps there is no good to come from it and therefore it should be avoided. Good seems like a simple concept. But good is a judgment call in every sense of the word. If you do what is good for your fellow human, it might cause you pain, suffering or inconvenience. You might find that what benefits others is a pain in the nose for you. You might also find that human selfishness makes all us struggle with doing good for others. The result is, others might choose to do what suits them best and not you. This is why we have laws, to protect the goodness of behavior for those who are by nature less assertive from those who have a tendency to be more aggressive. If you know what good is and you choose not to do good, there is a universal price to pay whether the “law” has caught up to you or not. ___________________________________ Help us take this message to young leaders around the world. Insuperable Vision Workshop - Audio Download with worksheets Day after day I meet people who are struggling just to make ends meet. They are adrift in this vast sea of humanity holding on to their job, their family, their home, and their car with all they've got. They see their life experiences and education as the last hope to find their purpose and identity. They gather, fill and stuff all the money they can into every opportune investment. Yet they are empty, frustrated, angry and just plain fed up. We have all experienced that moment; when we find yourself stuck in traffic, yelling at random strangers to do what they wish they could... but can't... GO! The idea that life can be better than it is today is like the flame of a candle fighting for all its worth to stand against the tempest. We all want a better life. Even when life is good, we want more. That idea, that flame, is the hope that lives in the hearts and minds of all of us. Should that flame be extinguished, hope itself may well go with it. It is the rut of hopelessness that traps many would be shining stars and buries that glow from the sight of the world. It is the rut of hopelessness that extinguishes that flame. Lives that would have been a beacon to the wandering are lost at sea themselves. Inspirations of success that would have been the voices crying out to all who suffer are hidden away in their own stale lives, they cannot share who they are or what the world needs from them. It is my passion to help you find your purpose. I want to see you become successful, but more than that to be free! Without vision people perish. Without vision, we seem to be lost, mind numb robots following the herd into the abyss that is everyday life. We do not live intentionally without a vision for our future. We do not live passionately without a vision for our future. We do not live productively without a vision for our future. We certainly cannot lead without a vision for our future and a vision for the future of those we lead. This audio course will inspire and instruct you to create a vision which will become a significant driving force in your life. Author
