Who knew food could be a leadership tool for manipulation?
From the makers of “human food” who copyright and trademark the process to the impact of giant food mills on the quality of the food, we have a global consumerism problem with food.
In many places on earth they are people called “subsistence farmers”. Generally meaning, the grow food because they must in order to survive. Put another way, they live off of the land they live on. They are close to nature and close to the earth. They grow food for life rather than food for economic engine.
From the ways in which we grow, harvest, manage, manipulate food supply to the ways we consume it, we have created an unhealthy ecosystem. Fast food, loud noises, bright lights, fast pace and little human interaction all feed into the problem and the profit.
As leaders, we should be more intentional about the hurried relationships our team culture creates around food and nutrition. If you desire for your team to be mentally sharp, with life longevity and true prosperity, they must have time to rest and relax as they eat. A 20 minute lunch break is not only unproductive or it is truly counter productive.
